The subject merged with the background
This usually means the subject and background share an edge, color, or shadow. A hand, stand, tabletop, neighboring object, or dark cast shadow may have been interpreted as part of the intended shape. Use a plain contrasting background, remove unrelated objects, and leave visible space around the silhouette.
A handle, stem, leg, or opening disappeared
Thin features disappear when their edges overlap the subject, the background shows insufficient contrast, or the final scale makes them too narrow. Choose an angle with open space around the feature. For a print, also check whether the slicer can represent it at the chosen dimensions and nozzle width.
The back or underside looks invented
It is invented: one photograph does not contain those hidden surfaces. Use Pixal3D's optional back view when you can photograph the same subject in the same pose. Otherwise, choose a camera angle that reveals more depth, try an included Pixal3D retry, or edit the hidden area manually.
The result has holes or disconnected pieces
Small open boundaries can occur in generated surfaces. Inspect where they appear and whether they affect the main silhouette. A large opening, detached primary feature, many accidental shells, or geometry that cannot be parsed is a failed result rather than harmless surface variation.
Try another Pixal3D seed with one of the two included same-image retries. If the defect follows every seed, improve the source image or repair the original mesh in a dedicated tool. Photo2STL does not thicken or alter the downloaded geometry behind the scenes.
Compare retries without losing the evidence
Keep the same camera angle when comparing the three Pixal3D results. Check the same silhouette points, openings, hidden surface, and underside in each version. A different seed may improve one area while weakening another, so choose the complete model rather than the version with one impressive close-up.
The result panel retains a separate STL link for every completed try. Download promising versions before the 45-minute window ends and name any edited copies separately. This makes it possible to return to an earlier result instead of assuming the newest seed must be the best.
The surface is noisy or over-detailed
Texture, fur, foliage, reflections, compression artifacts, and hard shadows can be interpreted as geometry. Use a cleaner source with softer light. Choose SPAR3D when a lower-poly shape is more useful than dense surface detail, or simplify the mesh after download.
The shape is too flat
A straight-on view with weak shading may provide little depth evidence. A three-quarter photograph often communicates front, side, and thickness more clearly. Do not simply increase pixel resolution; more pixels cannot recover depth that the camera angle never showed.
The upload is rejected immediately
Photo2STL accepts JPG, PNG, and WebP files up to 12 MB. A correct extension is not enough: the browser must be able to decode the image, its dimensions must be valid, and its pixels must fit the safety limit. Export the image again from a trusted editor instead of renaming an unsupported file.
The generation fails after it starts
Read the displayed message before submitting again. A queue or hardware problem may be temporary. An image-specific rejection usually needs a different source. Do not open several parallel generations; wait for the current job, leave the queue, or cancel it first.
The downloaded file appears empty or corrupt
Confirm that the download completed and that the file size is greater than zero. Open the original in a second viewer before converting it with another program. Browser extensions, interrupted downloads, and applications that do not support a format can look like model corruption. If multiple tools reject the same original file, treat that generated artifact as defective and use another completed try.
The model finished but the preview did not load
The preview and the downloadable artifact are separate requests. Photo2STL retries a failed preview automatically. If the model is complete but the browser cannot parse the preview, use the provided original-file download and inspect it in a desktop mesh tool before deciding the generation itself failed.
The slicer changes or rejects the mesh
Confirm the imported dimensions and units, then run the slicer's mesh analysis. Check open boundaries, intersecting surfaces, isolated shells, and thin walls. Keep the original download and save any repaired version separately so you can identify what the repair tool changed.

When to stop retrying
If all three Pixal3D seeds fail in the same structural area, the source is probably not describing that area clearly enough. More retries are unlikely to create reliable evidence. Change the framing, lighting, background, or view and begin a new set. If the shape must match measured dimensions, move to a CAD or scanning workflow instead of attempting to infer precision from the photograph.
