Before you generate
A clear image matters more than extra pixels.
Photo2STL estimates a complete three-dimensional object from the surfaces visible in a photograph. It cannot recover an exact back, underside, measurement, or internal structure that the camera never captured. The best source shows one complete subject, a readable outer edge, and visible space around thin parts such as handles, legs, stems, or ears.
Use a JPG, PNG, or WebP no larger than 12 MB. A plain background and soft, even light help separate the object from its surroundings. Highly reflective glass or metal, heavy shadows, motion blur, and several touching objects create ambiguous evidence and can become unwanted geometry.
Pixal3D for more detail
Pixal3D focuses on higher-detail geometry. The model card shows the current access terms before submission. When it says “1 ad, 3 tries,” one voluntary ad unlocks the first result and two new-seed retries for that same source image. Every completed result in the set stays available to download for 45 minutes.
Inspect the surfaces the photograph did not show.
Rotate the preview and check the silhouette, back, underside, openings, narrow features, and places where separate parts almost touch. Small holes can occur in generated Pixal3D surfaces, but a corrupt file, large missing region, detached primary part, or unusable model is a defect. Use a retry or improve the source rather than assuming a different file format will repair it.
Pixal3D can accept one optional back view. Use the same subject in the same pose, photographed at a similar height and distance. Conflicting front and back images may produce distorted geometry. The retry allowance remains tied to the original front image and, when used, its matching back image.

STL and 3MF fit common printing workflows. OBJ and PLY are useful in mesh editors, while GLB is convenient for viewing and interchange. All five downloads come from the same original generated geometry; Photo2STL does not thicken or secretly repair the mesh in the browser.
Before printing, set the real dimensions in your slicer, inspect holes and thin regions, choose an orientation, add supports where needed, and preview every layer. Generated geometry is not a substitute for measured CAD when fit, strength, or safety matters.
